Plan Your Day a Night Before
“Don’t begin the activities of your day until you know
exactly what you plan to accomplish. Don’t start
your day until you have it planned.”
—Jim Rohn (American Entrepreneur,
Author and Motivational Speaker)
Planning your next day, a night before, helps you execute
your tasks in a better way. Successful people, have this
wonderful habit of planning their day a night before, so
they are prepared to shape the following day. When I began
with my self-development journey, I used to plan things
in the morning which I needed to finish in the entire day,
which I did continue for some time until I learnt about
planning all of it in advance, meaning a night before. You
can face hurdles there too, the whole day can make you
tired, or you are spending time with family and that every time you would post pone the planning of your next day.
It was the same with me as well and I wished to implement
this habit without disturbing any other activity of mine.
One night, I was spending time with my son Chaitanya,
I decided to give him some assignment so he gets busy for
a while and I can plan my following day. Well, initially I
wasn’t sure what my immediate task was, but I decided to
write down all that came to my mind at that point in time.
Gradually, it improved and I could plan my coming day
well.
At times, I couldn’t really find enough time to jot
down my tasks, I would note down the key words. I was
consistent with my habit.
I not only saved my time the next day, I got better
clarity in the morning and continued zeal throughout the
day.
Make sure what you write a night before is easily
available to you the next morning so you are well aware
of the tasks planned as per the priority. When you are not
able to make time to write down your plans in the night, at
least make a habit to note the key words, which will keep
you on track as planned. I have shared this amazing habit
with my mentees and it certainly has helped them plan
their day a night before. It is easy and can be done quickly.
