The blog underscores the significance of prioritizing quality over quantity when it comes to sleep. It draws insights from Robin Sharma’s book, emphasizing the impact of sleep on vitality and opportunities. Practical tips, such as setting a sleep pattern and releasing negative energies before bedtime, are offered to improve sleep quality.
The Habit of Sound Sleep
I read ‘Who Will Cry When You Die?’ authored by Robin Sharma (Canadian Writer – famous for his book
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari).)
I particularly remember a lesson ‘Sleep Less’, in which the writer spoke about Thomas Edison, where we can get a glimpse about this famous inventor, and how he managed to sleep for just four hours, he further explained, “Sleep is like a drug, take too much at a time and it makes you dopey. You lose time, vitality and opportunities.”
We all have different sleep patterns and the number of hours of sleep we try to get. Some of us sleep for a good eight hours and are fresh as a daisy, while some can’t manage to get the needed sleep even if they sleep for more than 8 hours. It all depends on the quality of your sleep more than the number of hours you spend sleeping.
When everything is good around you, when you know you are doing well in all aspects of life, you will have a sound sleep. And when nothing is in our favour, life seems unfair, you tend to sleep for more than the usual hours, because as a human nature, sleeping is another way of avoiding life’s realities.
Let us focus on getting the quality sleep that we all need more than defining it in quantity. Train your brain, change your mind frame and tell yourself the better I sleep the better I function. It is all about the richness of your sleep. Try and do things, have dinner at least 2 hours before your bedtime, take a walk. Set a pattern which enables you to sleep well. Practice this before sleeping, “I release all the negative energies, I release all the worries and tensions, I release all the fears and stress, I am calm and peaceful.
I am relaxed. I am in deep sleep.”
